Faith The Wonder Dog

Faith was born on Christmas Eve 2002 with 3 legs - 2 healthy hind legs and 1 abnormal front leg which needed to be amputated. The dog’s mother was in the process of terminating Faith's life, when she was rescued by Reuben Stringfellow of Putnam City, Oklahoma. Reuben’s mother Jude taught her to walk.

First Jude put her on a surfing board to let her feel the movements. Then, she used peanut butter (??) on a spoon as a lure and reward for Faith to stand up and jump around.

The family’s other dog also helped encourage her to walk and after 6 months, Faith learned to balance on her 2 hind legs and jump to move forward. After further training, including in the snow, she learned to walk like a human being.

Faith has appeared Oprah (after which some people e-mailed me) and some other TV shows, i.e. http://www.all-creatures.org/stories/a-faith.wmv.

Note: the original site on which I got my information on Faith is no longer in operation. Another one I don't trust because, among other things, it has the sex wrong!!
